Soviet milkshake

If you ever ask someone who lived through the Soviet era what their favorite drink from a cafeteria was back then, you're guaranteed to get the answer "The milkshake" – the creamy, thick, airy, sweet, cold milkshake with unforgettable flavor. With this recipe you can make the famous drink from the USSR, which also passes for dessert, at home.

Equipment

  • blender powerful

Ingredients

  • 200 ml milk fresh, very cold, with high fat content
  • 50 g milk-cream ice cream natural, preferably without a flavor (e.g. homemade plombir without vanilla)
  • 2 tbsp fruit syrup any

Instructions

  • Put ice cream, milk and fruit syrup in a blender and mix for about 1 - 3 minutes, depending on the power of the machine.
  • Transfer the milkshake into a glass and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use only fresh, natural products with no additives. Follow my notes here above regarding each ingredient.
  • If you can't find milk-cream ice cream without a flavor, you can use natural vanilla ice cream in a pinch.
  • Milk must be very cold. It is best to put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes beforehand, but do not freeze it.
  • Instead of fruit syrup, you can use coffee or caramel syrup.
  • Use a powerful blender, preferably a powerful milk shaker.
